2023 Gingerbread Competition:

CALL for SUBMISSIONS

All are welcome to compete in the first-ever Noyes Gingerbread Village Competition! Your creation will be on display at the 2023 Noyes Holiday Market and Gingerbread Village and throughout the month of December. Prizes will be awarded to winners selected by a gingerbread jury, as well as People’s Choice Awards. First place award is $500!

The theme of the competition is Atlantic City buildings or monuments, past or present.

Registration opens: October 1, 2023

Registration fee: $5 per entry, FREE for currently enrolled Stockton University students

Last date for entry forms: November 29, 2023

Dropoff Dates: November 29 through December 1, from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Gingerbread Village Display and People’s Choice Voting: Saturday, December 2 from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday, December 3, from 12:00 to 3:30 p.m.

Pickup: Friday, December 22 from 11:00 to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday, December 21 from 11:00 to 5:00 p.m.

2023 Atlantic City Gingerbread Competition:

The first ever Atlantic City Gingerbread Competition will be held at the Noyes Arts Garage of Stockton University during the 2023 Noyes Holiday Market event on Saturday and Sunday, December 2 and 3, 2023. Submissions for the Gingerbread competition will be accepted and set up prior to the event on November 29.

The theme of the competition is Atlantic City buildings or monuments, past or present.

The competition will be judged by a jury on a 1-5 scale with the following characteristics:

1. Overall Appearance

2. Originality and creativity

3. Difficulty

4. Precision

5. Consistency of Theme

Awards:

1. First Place: $500

2. Second Place: $300

3. Third Place: $150

People’s Choice: $350

Official Contest Rules:

· There is a $5 fee to apply per gingerbread house. Currently enrolled Stockton University students may enter without payment; please register with your Stockton email.

· Entry forms must be received no later than November 29, 2023.

· Gingerbread houses must be delivered to the Noyes Arts Garage of Stockton University on Wednesday, November 29 between 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

· The theme of the competition is Atlantic City buildings or monuments, past or present.

· Entries must be made entirely of edible, non-perishable materials with the exception of the foundation board. No electric components or open flames.

· Foundation boards must be no larger than 24” x 24” and should be made of sturdy plywood. PLEASE DO NOT MAKE FOUNDATION BOARD SIGNIFICANTLY LARGER THAN GINGERBREAD HOUSE.

· All entries will be on display and voted on during the 2023 Noyes Holiday Market and Gingerbread Village on Saturday, December 2 and Sunday, December 3. All entries will be displayed through the month, with pickup scheduled on December 22 and December 23.

· Noyes staff may move gingerbread houses on the premises after voting and will not responsible for damages.

· Entries can be picked up on Friday, December 22 from 11:00 to 6:00 p.m. or Saturday, December 23 from 11:00 to 5:00 p.m. Unclaimed entries will not be held after the event, and will be disposed of after 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 23. If you wish to coordinate gingerbread pickup, please contact Sarah Lacy at sarah.lacy@stockton.edu before event weekend.

· Jury will choose winning submissions, and People’s Choice awards will close on Sunday, December 3 at 3:30 p.m. SHARP. Winners will be announced in person and on social media @artsgarageac on Sunday, December 3 at 4:30 p.m.

· Any deviations from the official contest rules will automatically disqualify the applicant.

Prize Winners & Notification:

· First through Third Prizes will be selected by jury on basis of above criteria.

· People’s Choice winner will be selected based on highest number of votes. In the case of a tie, jury will choose winner.

· Event coordinator will notify winners after conclusion of event, a contract for payment will be drawn, and awards will be paid by check from Stockton University.

People’s Choice Voting Rules:

· Voting for the Gingerbread Village will take place during the Holiday Market event between Saturday, December 2 from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday, December 3 from 12:00 to 3:30 p.m.

· Each event guest is permitted one vote per event day. Attend both event days for the most voting power!

· The submission with the most votes wins the People’s Choice award.

COMPETITION REGISTRATION:

The registration fee is due after you complete this form. Once you hit “Submit,” you will be redirected to our secure online shop where you can pay the registration fee. Currently enrolled Stockton students are permitted free entry to the contest.
